項目背景

鴨脷洲位於香港南區，是全球人口最稠密的島嶼之一。自2016年港鐵南港島綫通車以來，鴨脷洲的交通便利度大幅提升，社區發展步入新階段。惠風街一帶位於鴨脷洲大街的核心地段，鄰近洪聖街休憩花園，隨著周邊新住宅及商業項目相繼落成，區內行人路亦進行了全面的翻新升級工程，以提升社區整體環境品質和無障礙通達水平。

本次行人路鋪設工程屬路政署定期合約 — 香港島道路（快速公路及高速道路除外）之管理及維修項下工程，涵蓋惠風街5-9號一帶的行人路地面翻新，包括鋪設全新的英泥預製環保石屎磚及石屎盲人磚。

環保石屎磚是一種以回收玻璃製品，經篩選、清洗、破碎後與水泥混合壓製而成的預製鋪路磚。與傳統全新骨料石屎磚相比，環保石屎磚在保持同等強度和耐用性的前提下，善用回收物料，兼具環保與實用價值。

在本工程中，鮮紅色環保石屎磚以經典的人字形鋪法構成行人路的主體路面。人字形鋪法不僅美觀大方，更具備優異的互鎖（Interlocking）性能，使磚塊之間緊密結合，有效分散行人和輕型車輛的荷載，減少單塊磚面沉降或移位的風險。

鮮黃色環保石屎磚沿行人路邊緣及觸覺引路帶位置鋪設，與紅色主體形成鮮明的色彩對比，在視覺上清晰劃分行人路的範圍和引導動線。深啡色環保石屎磚則作為裝飾帶和過渡區域使用，為街道增添層次感。

石屎盲人磚安裝於行人路的多個關鍵位置，包括行人路與車路的交界處、街角轉角位、過路位置以及建築物出入口前方。在現場照片中可以清楚看到，黃色盲人磚在紅色路面上格外醒目，配合凸紋設計，為視障人士提供觸覺和視覺的雙重引導。

60mm的磚厚與同為60mm的環保石屎磚完美配合，確保行人路面的平整度和一致性，避免因不同區域的磚面高度差異而造成絆倒風險。

Wai Fung Street, Ap Lei Chau — Pedestrian Paving Works: Recycled Aggregate Pavers & Concrete Tactile Tiles

Project Background

Ap Lei Chau, situated in Hong Kong's Southern District, is one of the most densely populated islands in the world. Since the opening of the MTR South Island Line in 2016, the island's accessibility has improved dramatically, ushering in a new phase of community development. The Wai Fung Street area, centrally located along Ap Lei Chau Main Street and adjacent to the Hung Shing Street Rest Garden, has seen comprehensive pedestrian pavement upgrades to complement the evolving streetscape and enhanced barrier-free accessibility standards.

This pedestrian paving project, carried out under the Highways Department Term Contract — Management and Maintenance of Roads on Hong Kong Island (excluding Expressways and High Speed Roads), covers the full resurfacing of pedestrian pavements around No. 5-9 Wai Fung Street, including the installation of recycled aggregate pavers and concrete tactile tiles.

Product 1: Recycled Aggregate Pavers

  • Material: Cement-based precast concrete pavers using recycled glass aggregates
  • Laying Pattern: Herringbone

Recycled aggregate pavers are precast paving blocks manufactured using aggregates derived from recycled glass products, which are screened, washed, crushed, and blended with cement. While maintaining comparable strength and durability to conventional virgin-aggregate pavers, they make effective use of recycled materials, combining environmental responsibility with practical performance.

In this project, the vibrant red pavers are laid in a classic herringbone pattern forming the primary pedestrian surface. The herringbone layout offers not only visual appeal but also superior interlocking performance, ensuring blocks bond tightly to distribute pedestrian and light vehicular loads, minimising the risk of individual block settlement or displacement.

Yellow recycled aggregate pavers delineate kerb edges and tactile guide path zones, creating strong colour contrast against the red surface to clearly define pedestrian boundaries and navigation routes. Brown pavers serve as decorative bands and transition zones, adding visual depth to the streetscape.

Product 2: Concrete Tactile Tiles

  • Function: Tactile hazard warning and directional guidance

Concrete tactile tiles are installed at key locations including pedestrian-vehicular interfaces, street corners, crossing points, and building entrance approaches. Site photographs clearly show the bright yellow tactile tiles standing out prominently against the red paving surface, with raised patterns providing both tactile and visual guidance for visually impaired users.

The 60mm tile thickness perfectly matches the recycled aggregate pavers, ensuring a flush and consistent pedestrian surface that eliminates trip hazards from height differentials between different paving zones.

The Advantages of Eco-Friendly Building Materials

Recycled aggregate pavers use recycled glass as their aggregate material, transforming waste glass into practical paving products and reducing dependence on natural resources. While maintaining strength and durability comparable to conventional concrete pavers, they demonstrate the real-world value of eco-friendly building materials.

The practical application at Wai Fung Street demonstrates that recycled aggregate pavers deliver durability and aesthetics comparable to conventional concrete pavers, proving that sustainable materials can fully meet the rigorous requirements of public works projects.
